Typecasting

Someone once said to me that its not what you do for a living but what you do in the free time. Which I agree with to an extent. I believe there are 2 kinds of people in this world.

There are the people that work there jobs and make stacks of cash, and have 6 weeks of vacation a year. These people take vacations to far away places. They are the surfers, skydivers and hot air balloonists.

Then there are the workers. We make enough to survive. We drive cars that leak oil, and smoke. We have bank accounts, but only because we need to write checks, not to store our surplus cash. We get a couple weeks off of work every year, but can't go anywhere because we don't have any money. We get gray hair from worrying.

The thing about surfers and the rest of us is our jobs are our hobby. We are workers. We get excited about our jobs, and pissed when someone screws something up. I genuinely think the surfers don't care about their jobs and should be fired. Work is life. Life is work.

I work allot. I like working. I'm not good at allot of things. I can't paint. I can't surf. I'm not musical. I waste all my free time sleeping. I feel empty when I'm not at work. I think that was a major reason I left Linvatec.

I am much more happier working at UPS. I like the stress. I like the need for me and my skills. I like the people I work with. Its a great atmosphere, at least for me.
