Television
I wonder who would buy this shirt if I made it? What would be a good price? $9 .. The quote is from groundhogs days; the movie with Bill Murray. When I said it aloud I instantly thought of the television. Maybe its because I just recently wrote a 2000 word research paper on the evils of television. ... Man! This college stuff is paying off all ready.
Slogans and sayings..

altered beast
Halloween Horror Nights? hated it... This could possibly have been the worst weekend ever. The fact I drop $80 on tickets to something that sucked starts off the equation, follow that up with one drunken A-hole, a traffic jam that spread from here to eternity, then multiply by Orlando and you have a recipe for a cocktail we call a real shitfest.
Orlando, from what I can tell, is the mecca of overpriced theme parks and outlet malls. No wonder my parents would never take me there. I wouldn't miss a thing if a thermonuclear bomb went off and wiped it clean. I can't think of a single signifigant loss. I thought the blessing of fall would make it tolerable, but I was wrong. Orlando is just vile. It represents everything I hate. I may drive through it to escape from south florida, but I'll never stop there again.
Universal Studios is amazingly shitty. I vote it 3 thumbs down. I've never been the theme park kind of person anyway, why did I think this would be any different? I should have learned from my grandfather when I was young. I'll sit in the car next time.

The Wisdom of Lincoln
I plan on transfering this to a screen print and making a couple shirts. I am going to either start an "American Icon" collection or "US Presidents".. I haven't decided. I ultimately plan on creating a website to sell these shirts at reasonable prices. Let me know if you can help me with that.

Finding Your Calling
When I tell someone the secret to success is to do what he or she feels passionately about, they frequently ask me how they can identify the passion that will bring them the greatest success.
Here is what I answer:
You are a unique individual, endowed with many things that make you special. God was not stingy in giving you many powerful qualities. You have more than one passion and more than one talent.
So here is how to start the process. First, make a list of all your gifts. In other words, what talents or characteristics do you possess that are special? What makes you unique? Include on your list those positive areas where you are a contrarian or a deviant or a rebel. Your power lies on this list.
Now make a second list of all those things you love to do or feel passionately about. Include on this list the answer to this key question: what do I GIVE that when I'm giving it I am filled with great joy. Chances are that you love giving what you have in abundance. And what do you have in abundance? Those gifts or talents you put on the first list.
It would be extremely helpful to consider WHY you like a certain activity. What are all those things about a particular activity that feeds your passion? If something lights your fire then you must have some insight into why it does and in what ways it does. Write down what about it inspires you, what pleases you, what reveals more of yourself to you, what makes you laugh, what about it contributes to a greater good, etc.
NOW: think of ways or activities that involves SEVERAL of your talents, gifts, passions, and unique characteristics at the same time. We want to kill two (or more) birds with one stone OR, better put, hug two or more birds with one embrace.
The more passions and gifts that you can intersect at one point the better.
If, for some reason, that intersection of passions does not have a commercial component, modify it with more passions or talents until it does. At the intersection of many passions and talents, there should emerge a service, or a product, or an artwork, or a body of information that can be spun off commercially. This way you get to pursue your passions, grow your talents, give of yourself to others, contribute to a greater good, and, as a by-product of all this playing around, generate wealth.

Defined and reborn
I am sitting here finishing up my homework for today and I can't help but think that buying this new car is somehow starting a new chapter in my life. You see I have always been the same person, but I rarely buy a new car so its easy to break up the time periods in my life by the cars I have owned..
When I was young until I had my first stable job I owned a Red 93' Isuzu p/u truck. It was the perfect youth vehicle, small, quick, and attracted lots of attention from the cops.
Then I bought the 93' Honda Accord EX. A small economy car with attitude. Quick, smart and the perfect car for a young guy just starting out.
Now I have the 97' Acura RL which is smooth and sophisticated, well defined and says "I am smart and make good decisions". I really think this new car will help me move forward. Its a blessing to find this car.
I have been sticking to the plan and it seems to be working. So the best idea is to stick to my plan. The plan can be altered incrementally, but it must be organized and tallied. The plan consists of 3 levels; Career, Work, and Budget. As long as I stay focused on each priority, and underlying action item I will be a success.
the key is breaking large tasks into small manageable items, using time wisely, keeping notes and a schedule, and sticking to the plan.

I bought the 1997 Acura 3.5 RL. I pulled a carfax report on it, and it came out clean. The tire guy said the car was in excellent shape for having so many miles on it. I tracked it back to the Sanford Acura dealer and gave them a call, and they gave me the Radio Code and now I have tunes, although only on the back 2 speakers. Maybe my friends at BestBuy can help me out with rewiring the 6 disc changer in the trunk and the speaker problems. I also need to get a remote for the keyless entry. But I am just going to ride it out for a couple months before I do anything. Make sure the car is stable and sound.

No shelter
After a chemical accident from increased rain all my fish in the pond have died. Kujo and Gorbie are both dead. Kujo was about 10 inches. He was a big boy. So out of fustration, I filled in the fish pond today. As an added bonus this will keep the devil frogs away. They were keeping me up all night, I don't know where they go to in the daytime, but who really cares. As long as they don't come back. I am going to make a small patio where the pond used to be complete with 2 benches and a small table. I was aleady sitting out there earlier, and I can honestly say its going to be a nice space when I am done.

Teens vs. Cops
Teens to be pulled over for good driving. This makes no sense. Its just another excuse to pull people over to see inside their car. When I was a teen, I used to get pulled over almost weekly. The cops in this area are out of control, they'd see me and my car and pull me over claiming I was speeding or other such BS and then give me a bogus ticket, or ask me to get out of the care and pat me down, search my car and ask me all kinds of irrelevent questions. I remember I refused to answer one time and kept saying "I'll have to consult my lawyer" and they maade me sit in the back of a squad car for 2 hours! Then released me scott free. They just wanted to harass me. I can't belive the people in this community are falling for this bullshit!

Memorial Day
Memorial day has a purpose. .. What I do not understand is the refusal for our government or the rest of the world to learn from its mistakes. This is 2005, war should be something there are movies about, maybe some PC games about war, and thats it. We live in the modern world, yet in some places war still rages.
Congress is worried about steroid abuse in baseball, and filibustering judicial nominations, meanwhile the fringes of the world fall apart. Genocide rages in africa, people starving in south america, and the Iraq is in ruins.
It seems to me that the leaders have no touch with reality. It seems they base human life on dollars spent, and make decisions on profit margins not set to calculate loss of life.
Memorial day is a lesson. Why is nobody learning?

Wireless Network Blues
It finally crapped out. My linksys wireless network card finally took the leap. I smashed it and threw it in the trash can. The end had snapped off of it a while ago, and it would make my computer freeze up, which took me a while to figure out in the beginning. I thought there were hard drive issues. So now I am left to drop the $50 on a new network card, or I could just go buy a new laptop with integrated WiFi. Like I need an excuse? .. I am terrible. I must resist spending any money at all. I've been working a whole lot recently. Making myself thin and plastic. Its good to feel tired. It makes my sleep cycles so much more valuable. Not to mention I have become this $$$ saving machine. I rarely spend any money at all, on anything and feel guilty when I do.
I just put gas in my car today. I find myself looking at every gas station for the lowest prices and doing gasoline research to get the most for my dollar. Does octane matter? .. Not enough to really matter. Does gas with cleaners in it do anything? ... Not enough to really matter. I also find myself cruising at slower speeds and driving behind big trucks to stretch my fuel economy..
This is just one silly example, I won't even go into what I spent on food last week, or the week before. I saved 83% of my total amount earned last month. I have the spreadsheets to prove it.

Typecasting
Someone once said to me that its not what you do for a living but what you do in the free time. Which I agree with to an extent. I believe there are 2 kinds of people in this world.
There are the people that work there jobs and make stacks of cash, and have 6 weeks of vacation a year. These people take vacations to far away places. They are the surfers, skydivers and hot air balloonists.
Then there are the workers. We make enough to survive. We drive cars that leak oil, and smoke. We have bank accounts, but only because we need to write checks, not to store our surplus cash. We get a couple weeks off of work every year, but can't go anywhere because we don't have any money. We get gray hair from worrying.
The thing about surfers and the rest of us is our jobs are our hobby. We are workers. We get excited about our jobs, and pissed when someone screws something up. I genuinely think the surfers don't care about their jobs and should be fired. Work is life. Life is work.
I work allot. I like working. I'm not good at allot of things. I can't paint. I can't surf. I'm not musical. I waste all my free time sleeping. I feel empty when I'm not at work. I think that was a major reason I left Linvatec.
I am much more happier working at UPS. I like the stress. I like the need for me and my skills. I like the people I work with. Its a great atmosphere, at least for me.

I'm off to eat and get some sleep.
